The Coalition for a Clean Governance (CCG) has expressed its worries regarding the fact that seven members of the Tariceanu Government do no qualify for the integrity criteria set in 2004 by the Coalition for a Clean Parliament and the parties from the actual governance coalition, namely PNL and UDMR.
1. Teodor Melescanu, the head of the Ministry of Defense has worked in the Romanian diplomacy during the communist regime. According to Liviu Turcu, officer in the Romanian Secret Services during the communist regime, Melescanu has worked with the Secret Services, as all diplomats have done during those times. Melescanu was also a member of the Rompetrol Administration Board between 2002 and 2004. Given the fact that the main stakeholder, Dinu Patriciu, is both under criminal investigation and in an international litigation involving the Romanian State, the presence of some key members of the Government in the board that were substantially paid by him raises some questions regarding how the public interest is being protected.
2. Marko Bela, state minister is investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate for having received 5 billions lei from an unknown editor for a future literary work.
3. Zsolt Nagy, the Minister of Communications will be investigated by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism because of his relations with some foreign consultants whom were given access to classified information about strategic privatizations.
4. Ludovic Orban, Minister of Transport, was also administrator of Rominserv, a member of Rompetrol holding whose main stakeholder is Dinu Patriciu. Orban, vice-mayor of Bucharest, has recently tried to pass through an act in favor of Rompetrol. However, the members of the Municipal Council opposed such a proposal.
5. Cristian David the Head Minister of Administration and Internal Affairs has made a donation to PDL of 107 millions lei. However, according to his Statement of Assets and Interests t, his total revenue that year was 83 million lei. Even so, the firm Team international Consult SRL where Vlad Moisescu, counselor of the Prime Minister is associate, had, in 2004, a turnover of 2.5 billion lei. The advisory expertise offered by Cristian David and Vlad Moisescu relates mainly to European funding.
6. Decebal Traian Remes, Minister of Agriculture moves from one party to another. He was part of PNL, PNTCD, the Conservative Party and many other political alliances and experiments.
7. Paul Pacuraru was on the black list of the Coalition for a Clean Parliament ever since 2004. We hereby reproduce the main problem mentioned on the list of CCP in 2004: Paul Pacurariu (PNL), is a main stakeholder at Eurocom, a Romanian-French society of photocopying. Between 1997-2000, the above mentioned firm has recovered debts from other firms that Sidex owed money to. According to the general data of Public Finances Administration from Galati, Eurocom has sold, between 1999-2000, tones of benzene which came from Sidex. This business represents only a small percentage of the total business transactions of Eurocom.
